If I Were a Rich Girl....

While I was on my daily house plan hunt, I decided to "just take a peek" at some of the larger homes. This house plan that I was looking at was a whopping 8,200 sq. feet. But I did get some really cool ideas from this take a look!



Aside from this just being fabulous, I love, love, love the idea of having his and her bathrooms!! How fantastic would that be? So I am going to keep this in mind and see if there is anyway that I might can incorporate this on a smaller scale into our home!! And did you notice the fireplace in the "her" bath. AWESOME!

And if by chance, you are wondering about what those dots are around the perimeter, that is a wrap around porch. This is the second floor. The house kinda looks like it should be on the beach somewhere.

The Jamesbrook

Here is another house plan that I liked from the website www.historicaldesigns.com. This is the Jamesbrook plan. It is a little large, but I like it.

It is nasty, nasty weather here in Tallahassee at the moment. So I will have plenty of time being stuck indoors to find more house plans!! And I apologize if this is boring, but I really don't have that much going on at the moment with the new babies. Hopefully soon I can start my Master Bedroom makeover!!

To Thine Own Self Be True

I have finally decided to start posting some more house plans. We had a very promising showing of our house this week, so it got me back on the house plan hunt. Most of the house plans that I have posted have been fairly traditional in style. I did throw in a few cottage type houses in for good measure. But I have decided to be true to my nature and post some houses in the style that I just adore. I love, love, love low-country/Louisiana style houses. Here are a few pictures of some variations that I have been looking at.These are pictures from a great website called Authentic Historical Designs (http://www.historicaldesigns.com/) I just love the dormers and the large porch on the front with pretty columns. Here is one house plan that I like.

I don't know what is up with the drawing for this house plans when there are dormers on the plans them self...whatever. Maybe you can read the plans. They didn't do too well when I saved them. What do you think? Like it? Hate it?

Ivy Jeane Cottage

I am just now getting back to posting some more house plans. This plan is designed by Frank Betz. He is a popular designer and has designed several houses for Southern Living. His website is http://www.frankbetz.com/ and that is where all of the pictures come from. There are a few changes I would make to the plan. First, I would add about 6 feet or so in the middle of the house in order to accommodate 2 bathrooms for the bedrooms. Then I could enlarge the master bedroom/bathroom/closet and make the kitchen bigger, which is always a plus. And while I was at it, I would probably add a few feet to the width of the master wing. I would also change the roof. As you can see in the picture, there appears to be two different planes around the dormers. That was just some of the modifications I was thinking about. So there you go!

Sand Mountain House

Okay. This is the Sand Mountain House. This is from the Southern Living website. This house is really different (again) from something I would normally pick. And if the website didn't offer a virtual tour, I wouldn't have given it a second glance. I do think that this house is unique though. So check it out! I have added a link at the bottom to the info page for this plan. You can click on the virtual tour to get a feel of what the interior looks like!!

The Sagecrest

Ok. Here is another house plan. I'm not a big fan of this style house. I am a more traditional kind of gal. But, with that said, this house plan would blend in nicely with the more craftsman style houses in the neighborhood. This plan is by Donald Gardner (http://www.dongardner.com/). I like all of the elements that this plan has. I would make one change. I would modify the left side of the house to make it larger. The master bedroom is way too small.
And of course, I would love to look out to a pool just as this picture shows!

Braddock Point

Hey guys. Sorry I didn't post a house yesterday. Our internet was down all day here at work, and I never got around to it when I got home yesterday. So here is another house plan that I like. This plan is also from Southern Living. I really love the big covered porch, since our lot is on a lake, I can envision many summer evenings outside on the porch. I would however, make a few modifications to the right side of the home. I did a fast little job about what I have in mind. Make bookshelves on the other side of the fireplace in the living room and remove that door. Make the middle bedroom an open space, for a small playroom for the kids (or dogs, if the kids never arrive) in between the two bedrooms. With a few tweaks to the bathrooms and closets for the front bedroom, I think this would be a great little wing for the kids. And of course, we would probably wait to finish the upstairs, because that adds a lot of square footage to the home, and not sure if we would want to do that right away. So, there you go! Plan #2!

Oak Glen

This house plan is one of my favorites. This will be the house we build if we sell our lot and can build somewhere else. This house doesn't really fit in with our neighborhood where our lot is now. Plus, it is a little bit bigger than what we are planning on building. But I love, love, love the look of this house, even if the kitchen is far off from the garage, and all of the other bedrooms are upstairs. (a little inconvenient with small children...) This house plan is from Southern Living. Note: the picture above is not the Oak Glen house, it is actually the bigger sister plan, Forest Glen. Very similar plan, just bigger with some modifications, but close enough to get an idea!

My New Project

Okay......I thought I would do something fun this week. We are getting closer on getting our house sold, so I have decided that I am really going to get crackin' on the hunt for a perfect house plan. So everyday this week, I am going to post a different house plan that I like and I would love to get your input!! Let me go get my first one for today!
