Could it be? Am I dreaming? Is this really happening? Is it a miracle right here in my own backyard? To answer my questions...yes, no, unbelievably yes, hallelujah yes!! I went out to my flower bed the other day and had the best surprise in the whole wide world awaiting me back there. My hydrangea had one teeny-tiny bloom on it. Hooray!! I have a love/hate relationship with this plant. I planted it a little less than 2 years ago. The first summer, it was very small, since I had just bought it and planted it straight from the store and of course, it died during the winter. It was pathetic, let me tell you. I was very sad the day that I finally decided to just chop it down to the roots, because I really thought it was dead. Well, this spring, I was surprised to see that it started to sprout and come back. I thought, great, I didn't kill it. Well...it did come back and it came back as one massive, giant, super-plant!! Summer came, as well as most hydrangea blooming season. No blooms. None. Nada. Zip. Zero. I had given up, deciding that I had ruined this poor plants ability to produce blooms due to my whack job on it the winter before. So you can imagine how happy I was to walk out and find that little bloom trying to peek through. I did a little happy dance and had to run to tell Joseph. (Note: he was not impressed, nor did he really care) So I am very happy that my little plant-baby decided to let me get a glimpse at the awesomeness that is a hydrangea bloom.SIDE NOTE AND STORY: Speaking of this plant, I have a quick story. I have been upset over my hydrangea plant all season long because it never bloomed. Well, one day I go home to my parents house and I look over behind my mother's gardenia bush. There is a pot up against the wall, with a plant in it. And of course it was a hydrangea plant that someone had given her probably 3 years ago. It had never been planted. Its roots where coming out of the bottom of the pot to the dirt below. It had never been watered. It had never been given any attention. It was completely abandoned. And when I got there that day, it had the most beautiful blooms on it. Needless to say, I was not happy because I had given my plant a lot of TLC and mother gave her none and it was beautiful. Go figure!!
There are a few changes I would make to the plan. First, I would add about 6 feet or so in the middle of the house in order to accommodate 2 bathrooms for the bedrooms. Then I could enlarge the master bedroom/bathroom/closet and make the kitchen bigger, which is always a plus. And while I was at it, I would probably add a few feet to the width of the master wing. I would also change the roof. As you can see in the picture, there appears to be two different planes around the dormers. That was just some of the modifications I was thinking about. So there you go!
Okay. This is the Sand Mountain House. This is from the Southern Living website. This house is really different (again) from something I would normally pick. And if the website didn't offer a virtual tour, I wouldn't have given it a second glance. I do think that this house is unique though. So check it out! And of course, I would love to look out to a pool just as this picture shows!
I will be posting another house plan, but in the mean time, I thought I would share the latest pictures of our new babies!! They turned a month old on Thursday. Still no names. Joseph is still wanting Brutus to be one of the names. Funny, I know! A little 
Hey guys. Sorry I didn't post a house yesterday. Our internet was down all day here at work, and I never got around to it when I got home yesterday. So here is another house plan that I like. This plan is also from Southern Living. I really love the big covered porch, since our lot is on a lake, I can envision many summer evenings outside on the porch. I would however, make a few modifications to the right side of the home. I did a fast little job about what I have in mind. Make bookshelves on the other side of the fireplace in the living room and remove that door. Make the middle bedroom an open space, for a small playroom for the kids (or dogs, if the kids never arrive) in between the two bedrooms. With a few tweaks to the bathrooms and closets for the front bedroom, I think this would be a great little wing for the kids. And of course, we would probably wait to finish the upstairs, because that adds a lot of square footage to the home, and not sure if we would want to do that right away. So, there you go! Plan #2!
