Say Cheese!

Today, I thought I would share a few pictures that I took this weekend. Poor David and Moxley were subjected to my camera all weekend. But it was fun. David got off from work early on Friday, so he was in Thomasville by the time I got home from work. I love it when that happens and we get to spend an extra evening hanging out. We debated on going and hitting up the night life of Thomasville (yeah right) but ultimately decided on staying home and firing up the grill for some yummy steaks. Plus we had Mox to contend with since he also made the journey, since we were headed home to Blountstown for the weekend. Bentley was excited that he had a visitor. Before he and Stacey headed off to west Florida for her to go see her mother, Bentley and Moxley got to run around the yard and play.

Of course, I don't think Bentley appreciated having to share his tennis ball with Mox. And to show his disapproval, he decided to pee on Mox. Mox, of course, was oblivious to it all. He was too excited to be running around the yard with a tennis ball to notice!

He sure is a sweet dog. No wonder a Golden Retriever is one of the favorite dogs of all times (He still isn't a dachshund, though...). Much to David's dismay, I made him and Mox have an impromptu photo shoot. I love making people uncomfortable and awkward with a camera constantly clicking in their face! The pictures turned out really good, I just wish I made David take off his sunglasses. Oh well! There's always opportunities for more pictures down the road!

Aren't my boys so handsome? I love these two guys and they are quite a pair! I wanted to do a photo shoot on Sunday at my parents house with me, David, and the dachshunds but luckily for the boys, it was raining and nasty, so we never got the chance to and I am sad about that. Maybe Father's Day weekend will provide better weather conditions. On Saturday, we headed to Blountstown. We got into town around lunch and were sad to discover that neither my mom, nor his had fixed anything for lunch. (we are pathetic, aren't we? ha!) So we went through the drive thru at Burger King and grabbed some food and road around town to eat, taking in the sights of our beloved hometown. We made the obligatory trip down to the river landing and went in search of the llama that used to reside in someone's front yard in a neighborhood in the middle of town. And I can't make stuff like that up. We ended up on the west end of town on the way to my parent's house and did a ride through of the park. I of course persuaded David to go for a brief walk on the trail through the swamp that leads to the Pioneer Settlement.

I haven't been on that path in a long while, so it was nice to take a quick walk down memory lane with my fella.

David was a sport and let me take some more pictures. Bless his heart for putting up with me, is all I can say! This was how our conversation went:

Me: Ok...walk down the path like a runway model, then turn around real sexy like and make a Zoolander face.

David: Really? How about I just walk away from you.

 ME: Where are you going? You don't want me to take your picture?
David: No.
ME: Please?
David: Ok.

David: How's this?
Me: Good! Now come back and let me get some close ups.
David: Sigh....
ME: Ok, now stand like you are on the cover of GQ magazine

 Me: Ok, good. Now do the thinking man.
David: I'm done. (hands on hips) Your turn!

I protested because I really don't like for my picture to be taken. But he had been such a good sport, that I decided to let him play Ansel Adams since he allowed me to play Annie Leibovitz. I was a much better sport than he was. I will go ahead and warn you, this isn't pretty!

Told you! Now you see just how ridiculous I really am. But we had fun. Life isn't fun if you are too serious and just can't have a good time! After our photo shoot we headed back, but took the time to read the graffiti all over the little pavilion. We caught up on on the drama of the teenagers in town. But my favorite thing I read was this:

I had to laugh because walking down the path, I commented to David that this trail looked a little "squatchy". Thanks to our love of watching the show Finding Bigfoot that word is constantly in my vernacular.

So that is our little mini-adventure and our photo shoot outtakes. Tomorrow, I will post about our encounter with our very own rattlesnake.

Mother's Day 2012

This weekend David and I traveled to our hometown to celebrate our Mothers. I am so glad that we made it home and got to spend time with the special women in our lives. I am so lucky to have the mother that I do! God has truly blessed me with the best parents on this planet.

I don't know what I would do without my mother or with any of the women in my life. God placed me in a family with strong, Christian women. Starting with my grandmothers and moving down to my aunts, cousins, nieces, and friends. I can't even begin to express how thankful I am for every last one of these ladies!

So, thank you mother, for loving, guiding, and teaching me! I love you so much!!

I got to go to church with my Mother and I always realize how much I love and miss my home church when I go. Somethings you just always hold dear to your heart. We had a nice meal after church and Barrett got to show off his chickens. Let me tell you what....those chickens are disgusting. Seeing them up close just made me realize how gross they are. I can remember the countless times in 4H or FFA and having to judge chickens and how much I hated it because they are nasty. But Barrett loves them, so I guess that's all that matters!

Let me introduce you to his favorite chicken. He had to reach into the cage and find his buddy.

Ladies and Gentlemen, let me introduce you to Crook.

 This poor bird. I have no idea how it is still alive. It only has one eye and if you can see his beak, it is jacked up and crooked. Hence the name, Crook. I guess it's good for Barrett because it shows he has compassion for those animals that aren't perfect. But he was really anxious to show David his new BFF.

David was a sport and held this nasty little thing as Barrett excitedly told him all about him. David was ok with it until it pooped in his hand. :-) ha!!

So that was our excitement over Mother's Day weekend. Nothing like playing with foul fowl to spice things up! I have lots more to share from my adventures this weekend, but I will probably have to break it up into a few posts. Hope you all had a wonderful Mother's Day and got to tell your moms how much you appreciate them!

Friday Faves

2. Dr. Sheldon Cooper: Actually more like Stacey Cooper. I don't know if you watch the Big Bang Theory but it is totally hilarious. I'm glad that TBS has started showing it a lot more regularly at night. The season finale was on last night, which was very cute btw. Anyways, I comment to Stacey all the time that she is totally the Sheldon Cooper of our household. Especially in the fact that they are totally germ-a-phobes.

Some of the things that Sheldon says sounds exactly like something Stacey would say. Granted, you would have to know Stacey and watch the show to understand, so I won't go any farther. But Stacey - you know you totally are this man! And speaking of which, I believe Stacey replicated this exact picture when I had a stomach virus and she disinfected the whole house. And to prove that Stacey is a bit OCD, or as she likes to say CDO (because it's in alphabetical order that way) let's take a look at Stacey's paranoia this week.

I was in my room watching an episode and Sheldon was freaking out about drinking after someone, so I shot off a text to Stacey in the living room who was also watching about her OCD tendencies. You can see how the conversation went down in the pictures above ending with her getting out a new toothbrush because she was afraid that I had touched hers. Now, let me bring you to last night. Guess I had planted the seed of doubt and Stacey's paranoia reached def con one status...

I warned Stacey that I was going to post about this! I love you girl and your little ways!

3. Sunglasses: My monogrammed sunglasses finally came in. I have a special "treat" for you today and did a little video instead of a picture. I'm such a dork, so please feel free to laugh at me at my expense!

4. Trash Can: Can you really get too excited about a trash can? I'm not sure, but I really like this one and think it would look great in my room by my makeup desk!

I can't remember where I got this picture from, so I guess I need to figure that out if I plan on getting it!


Ok...that's all I've got for you today. I need to focus on getting my work done because my boys are coming to visit me this weekend, so I've got to get out on time! Hope ya'll have a wonderful weekend and a fabulous Mother's Day.

Tall Ships, AHOY!

This weekend, Savannah was the stop for the Tall Ship "race." All of these huge ships are traveling up the eastern coast of the United States. Many of these ships that were docked in Savannah were from countries like France and New Zealand. It was really cool to see all of these ships docked on River Street. We didn't pay the $25 for admission into the actual venue, but we still got a pretty good look at all of these unique ships.

There were lots of people dressed up like pirates and even a Pirate band....

My attempt to get some photos of us and the ships failed a little bit. Guess neither David nor I am very good photographers!

At least David did get a picture of a flag in my photo! We ate lunch at our favorite spot. Rocks on the Roof at the Bohemian Hotel. It's the perfect vantage spot for gazing at the river. We tried one last attempt at a photo.

Friday Faves

It's Friday, ya'll! I think on Friday, I will start posting a few things that I see that I am loving during the week. So let's see what makes the list this week!

1. First and foremost, I am mainly thankful this week for this. It is a huge relief to me to have my office clean and clutter free!  That is why it is making the Friday Faves top spot.

This is my office. And if you will notice, my desk is COMPLETELY free of any papers! My office has been driving me insane here lately by all of the stacks and stacks of things that I needed to get done or put away. As you can see....it's all gone! I stuck around late yesterday to tackle all the things I have been putting off. It was so refreshing to come in this morning and actually see the top of my desk, side table, and hutch! I had stuff EVERYWHERE! Just to prove it, here is what my office normally looks like:

2. I am currently digging these earrings. I can't really decide if I like them enough to purchase them, but I think they are cute and whimsical. And if you read my blog, you know I'm not a huge fan of dangling earrings due to my over-stretched ear holes (that sounds dirty, lol).

Meet Ethan

Hi everyone. Meet Ethan. He is my new BFF.

Ethan Hawk (I know, I know) paid my backyard a visit yesterday afternoon. After work, I like to come home and sit outside and read. After being cooped up in an office all day it is very relaxing to sit outside and get some fresh air and unwind with a book. So I was sitting there happily mind my own business. I was finishing up reading a very funny (and slightly disturbing at times) book by Jenny Lawson that I picked up last week on a whim to read at the beach.

So I was just readying and I heard a noise. So I looked up and watched a hawk, my new BFF Ethan, swoop down and land right in front of our shed. I thought it was a bit odd that he would just stay on the ground like that, being a hawk and all. Especially since I had time to grab my phone and take his picture. He was busy pecking away (I thought maybe he was eating some of my squirrel feed...). Then he gracefully took flight. I was horrified when I noticed that he didn't leave my yard alone. He had taken a snake with him. Granted, I was thankful that Ethan took the initiative to rid my yard of snakes. But a little freaked out because not only do I hate snakes, but large birds of prey with huge talons also freak me out. However, my affection for these beasts of the air has grown after Ethan saved me from what most likely would have been a heart attack if the cobra and I had ever crossed paths. So, thank you Ethan. And if you ever want to come back to my yard for more snakes, please do. You are my hero.

Spring Chicken

I guess my father doesn't have enough to occupy his time....he is super busy converting the cow pasture into crop land for his upcoming cotton crop and of course, his full time job. Guess he now can add chicken raiser to his resume. My mother is super thrilled, if you can imagine {she types sarcastically}. But my little nephew really is beyond thrilled. My mother sent me over these pictures this morning.

My only prayer is that my dogs don't eat Barrett's chickens! He wouldn't be happy with the dogs or with his Sissy! I can't wait until I go home to further investigate my father's new critters.
