“In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. And the virgin’s name was Mary. And he came to her and said, "Greetings, O favored one, the Lord is with you!” Luke 1:26-28
Mary Did You Know?
Mary Did You Know is one of my favorite Christmas songs. Here are the lyrics to the song by Mark Lowry:
Mary, did you know
that your Baby Boy would one day walk on water?
Mary, did you know
that your Baby Boy would save our sons and daughters?
Did you know
that your Baby Boy has come to make you new?
This Child that you delivered will soon deliver you.
Mary, did you know
that your Baby Boy will give sight to a blind man?
Mary, did you know
that your Baby Boy will calm the storm with His hand?
Did you know
that your Baby Boy has walked where angels trod?
When you kiss your little Baby you kissed the face of God?
Mary did you know.. Ooo Ooo Ooo
The blind will see.
The deaf will hear.
The dead will live again.
The lame will leap.
The dumb will speak
The praises of The Lamb.
Mary, did you know
that your Baby Boy is Lord of all creation?
Mary, did you know
that your Baby Boy would one day rule the nations?
Did you know
that your Baby Boy is heaven's perfect Lamb?
The sleeping Child you're holding is the Great, I Am.
At Christmas time, we mainly focus on the birth of Christ and not Calvary. But the whole purpose of Jesus' birth was to come and be the living sacrifice for us. 2 Corinthians 5:21 tells us "God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God." Did Mary really know and understand what was happening that day when the angel of the Lord told her that she would become the mother of Jesus? No, probably not. I'm sure it didn't take long though for her to catch on. So today, this song was on my mind and I just wanted to share this with you.
