Wow! Talk About Obese!

This afternoon, I took a little break from work and opened up my Google Reader to check out the latest. Very rarely do I ever check out the Long and Short of It All, but today I opened up the feed. I came across this post about a very unique dachshund. Brace yourself.

This "little" doxie weighs in at a massive 77 pounds. 77 pounds!!!! I couldn't believe it. Makes me not feel as bad when one of my dogs gets up to the 16-20 pound range when they are carrying some extra holiday weight. Wow. Wow. Wow. That's all I can say.

Turns out, this dog originally belonged to an elderly couple who showed him a little too much love in the food department. They finally gave the guy up and his new owners are on a journey to help him lose 40 pounds. Forty pounds might not seem like a lot, but he is standard size, so he is supposed to be a bit bigger than the miniature variety like my three boys.

And I have to admit, going by how my boys are. They would most definitely eat until they could eat no more if you allowed them to. I get it. Those big brown eyes are hard to say no to, especially when they sit up and beg!
