Ode to Oscar

I thought that I would start out this week by giving a little shout out to my sweet baby, Oscar. He has been such a good friend and a loving pet. I wanted to share a few pictures from the July 4th weekend of Oscar lounging around Mimi's house and swimming in the creek. And yes mother, there are a few bathing suit shots of you, so don't be mad. They are brief I promise. So here is to my precious little doxie.

And since Joseph and I love our baby so much, we decided that we should make our family a little bit bigger. See this is where the surprise comes in and this is how I am choosing to tell my mother our great news that our family is expanding. See Joseph and I are expecting, with not one but TWO babies. Surprise!! We are super excited and scared all at the same time.

Our new arrivals come August 31st from a stork in St. Augustine. Did I forget to mention that they were two dachshund puppies? Got ya! Hee Hee! Sorry I couldn't resist. Here they are at a few days old. They were born July 6th, so they are still pretty tiny!

Happy 4th of July

Just want to wish everyone a safe and happy holiday. So eat a lot, laugh a lot, and don't get too much sun!

Also, take some time to thank God for giving us such a great nation and ask Him to continue to bless this wonderful nation in which we are all privileged to live in.

Splish, Splash

I didn't do anything exciting of note this weekend. Joseph, Oscar, and I did take a small little trip yesterday down to Blountstown to spend Father's Day with my father! After eating way too much, we headed down to the creek for a little fun in the sun. Oscar totally enjoyed his day. He swam and swam until finally I had to make him stop because he was so tired. He loved chasing Brandon and Colton while they dove off the diving board and tried to out-swim Jack to see who could get to the football/baseball the quickest. And it is always cute to see Oscar and Jack in their little life jackets! Here are a few pictures from yesterday.

The drain had been clogged, so the we had to do a little work to get some of the debris outta the way! But if that is the only work I have to do on any given day, I would say it was a good one! It is always fun going swimming in the creek for the first time every year!

Dress My Nest

I have a new addiction. I love Dress My Nest on the Style channel. I think that it is really cool how Thom takes 3 style items and 3 personal items and incorporates it into the room's design. So ladies, do you have a favorite dress, earrings, etc? If so, it is super easy to add touches of your personal style into the style of your home. We are all divas about our clothes, why not vamp up our rooms? I decided to try my hand at this and see what I could come up with. I used J Crew clothes for inspiration and Pottery Barn for the interpretation. I did this solely for simplicity! So here is what I came up with!
See! Nothing too fancy about what I picked, but it was fun. So look to your closet for some inspiration and get to it!

Happy Birthday!

I want to give a quick shout-out to my friends Catrina and Sabrina. Happy Birthday girls! Love you lots and have a great birthday!!

"Goodwill" Hunting

I bought these picture frames a while ago and they have just been sitting there without any pictures. I debated on what to put in them, but since they were in the guest room, I didn't think my guests would want to see cheesy (literally. HELLO bathing suit!) vacay shots of me and Joseph. So, I ran over to my local Goodwill bookstore and grabbed some cheapo art books to look for some pics to cut out. I got 5 books for all of $12. Only three were art books. Got a music theory book and a nice copy of a 1957 printing of Gone with the Wind.
I found a cute picture of a Renoir painting to put in the smaller frame. I didn't really find a picture that I liked for the larger frame, so I decided to put a piece of sheet music to show as a display. I went through my piano books and found a piece that had a bird theme, that went with my room. I know, I know! I'm crazy like that! The music wasn't quite the same size as the frame, so I took some scrapbooking paper and made a mat, so that it would fit. Even thought the sheetmusic came out of one of my mother's piano books, it didn't have that vintage-y, oldie look, so I aged it with tea. Here's what I did for the project.
First, I soaked the page in tea for a few minutes. Then, I set it on a wire rack to dry. Hit it with a hairdryer to speed up the process. Last, I cut my mat to fit the frame and then measured to frame the sheetmusic. Here is the final project!

Some Beach, Somewhere.....

Thought I would share a few pics of my nephew, Barrett from Saturday when we headed down to St. George Island for a day of sun and fun. Don't worry, mother.....no pictures of you will be
posted!
He was pooped from playing and running in the sand. Nothing like a nice snooze on the beach!
