My Boys

It's been a while since I have posted just about my boys. I got to spend some much overdue quality time with my loves over the weekend. They have been at my parents ever since I moved out of our house in February after Joseph walked out. So its been super hard on me to be separated from them for so long. And I know that they don't understand, so it breaks my heart each time I leave them and they just look at me with those sad brown eyes wondering why I am abandoning them. At the same time, it is still great to just spend some quality time with them and get all the love and kisses that I can, while I can. We had a wonderful, lazy afternoon of just snuggling and playing. And these are all just pictures that I took with my phone, since I was weighed down with 30 pounds of straight dachshund. Ha!

Oscar - He's carrying some holiday weight ha!
Brutus - on guard per usual
The only thing that would get the boys off of me would be their love of Goldfish. Pepperidge Farm knows the way to my babies' hearts--through their stomachs of course!
Brutus is in the background sitting up begging. I didn't know he could do that. Kinda broke my heart that I didn't know that about him and that I wasn't the one to teach him. Guess he learned fast from his older brother, Oscar. (who was feeling pretty spry this weekend, btw)

Of course we all had to snuggle last night. I missed having those little guys! I could tell they were ready to go to bed last night. Oscar went to my bedroom door and started whining to be let in. Then I put the babies on the bed while I got ready for bed. This is what I discovered when I came out of the bathroom. (and Mimi is gonna be mad that I let them on her bedspread...sorry Catherine) They couldn't find their way underneath the bedspread, so they did the next best thing, get underneath the pillows!

Finally, they just couldn't take it anymore. Have. To. Lay. Down. So. Very. Tired...

Brutus looks like Jabba the Hut. Bless his heart. He is an emotional eater. He's doing better though now that he stays outside most all day, so some of the weight he gained as started to come off. No matter what, he's still a handsome boy.

I will say this, these dogs have a nose like whoa. This morning, they were under the covers, passed out and all of a sudden come alive. Which was odd because it was like 5 am and they normally don't do early wake up calls. After struggling to escape from below the depths of the covers, they perched on the edge of the bed, noses just a-goin'. They could smell Mimi cooking bacon all the way in the kitchen. Its amazing what the aroma of bacon wafting through the air can do as far as motivation for those dogs. They soon after gave me the "peace out" and left to go beg for bacon.

So that was about what my brief period of time with my dapper darlings consisted of. Lots and lots of cuddling, kisses, and back rubs. Oh- and perhaps a bath (or 3) and some toe-nail clipping. I just tried to pamper them with some attention, but I'm sure they could have done without the torture of getting a bath!
