I can't believe it has taken me until today to post about the festivities this past weekend of St. Patrick's Day in Savannah. It's been very hectic my way and I am just now getting around to it. It was a wonderful weekend. I actually took a vacation day on Friday, which was big to me, considering I haven't taken a vacation day in probably 1.5 years.... So, yeah. That alone was worth celebrating! I left out of work on Thursday and headed up to Savannah to take full advantage of my time off. Stacey and two of her friends from back home were coming up on Friday, which was also exciting. Although I am sad to report that I only got to see them briefly for dinner on Friday night and for like 5 minutes on Saturday. Things were just so crazy downtown Saturday that we never really got to meet up. Pout :-(
Friday was an absolutely gorgeous day, so David and I took full advantage of the weather and took Mox to Fort Pulaski to walk the trail down to the lighthouse. I think Mox really appreciated being included on this adventure.
Mr. Mox Box was raring to go when we started down the trail. I am falling more and more in love with coastal Georgia and the marshes. It is so beautiful. The trail was heavily shaded and you could peak out at the water. It was late, so the trail was pretty empty, so Mox got to go off leash and explore.
We walked and got a really nice view of the fort from a similar vantage point that the Yankees would have had from Tybee Island back in the day.
We got to the end of the trail to the view of the lighthouse and sat to relax and take in the view. It was gorgeous.
And we weren't the only ones resting.
I think Mox had over-exerted himself and went to relax in the shade while we gazed at the lighthouse and read up on the history at the historic marker.
It was a perfect afternoon and just what we needed before the madness of St. Patty's Day the next day. Stay tuned for part 2...
