This Wonderful Life

I have lots to celebrate this week! I just got home from another great weekend in Savannah, but before I share my exploits of that trip, I want to just say how happy I am for another couple.
My sweet, crazy cousin Heath proposed to his girlfriend over the weekend, and she said yes! I am so thrilled that Heath has found someone who makes him so happy and I wish them all the happiness they can stand. So, we have lots to look forward to with the upcoming wedding. Congratulations, Heath and Elisabeth. I love you!

I love going to Savannah but I hate the drive. It is a little over 4 hours to get there from Tallahassee. I didn't get off work early, so I had a late evening getting in on Friday night. I haven't been to Savannah in a few weeks, so the moment I got in the door at David's, I was bombarded by his sweet Golden Retriever, Moxley. He was so happy to see me! He went absolutely nuts when I walked in. He wanted to do nothing but sit in my lap, which isn't comfortable when the dog weighs like 90 pounds! But Mox got all the hugs and rubs he could stand. It makes David a little jealous to share my attention with the dog, but he got over it.

David and I had a wonderful Saturday. The weather was beautiful. It was a little on the cool side, but it was still glorious. We debated going out to Tybee Island for their early St. Patrick's Day festivities, but we decided to go downtown to Forsythe Park to get a peak at the fountain before the craziness and masses that will be there next weekend. But that was after we had a wonderful brunch at Tubby's in Thunderbolt Marina. David got the french toast, which was TO DIE FOR! It was so yummy. I had a little order envy, but luckily David is generous and shared his deliciousness with me.
I'm pretty sure they deep fry the french toast, which isn't healthy, but it sure makes it so good. Ha! I may (or may not) have indulged in one of my most favorite brunch items.

I can't resist a bloody mary. So good! I adore brunch. I think I have talked extensively about my love for brunch on here, so I know I sound like a broken record! After pigging out, we headed downtown to walk some of those calories off. Forsythe Park was beautiful with all of the azaleas blooming.

The best part of seeing the fountain is that they had already dyed it green, getting ready for the St. Patty's celebration next week. I have never witnessed the green fountain in person, so I was pumped that I finally got to see it.

We were surprised that the park was so busy. It didn't take us long to figure out why.

That's right. Girl Scouts had taken over Savannah for the 100th anniversary celebration. I love the picture above of all the different uniforms the girls have worn over the years. We saw troops from all over the country while we were out at the park. I was amazed that some would travel so far. I did see one semi-hometownish troop representing from Albany, GA walking around. I didn't seen any Thomasville peeps though.

After our walk, we headed on down to the main part of downtown to look for Stacey a St. Patty's day t-shirt and ended up at Rocks on the Roof for a late lunch. This place is probably my favorite place to go in all of downtown Savannah. It's a restaurant on the roof of the Bohemian Hotel right on River Street and has the most spectacular views.

If you notice, all the fountains downtown have been dyed green :) I can't wait to go back next weekend for St. Patty's Day. Stacey and two of her friends from home are making the journey to Savannah for the festivities. I'm taking a long weekend and can't wait to have some fun painting the town green with my ladies (and David, of course)!
